Arthritis & stiff joints
Arthritis is common, but it does not have to stop you doing what you love.

Osteoarthritis is a normal part of how joints change over time, and pain levels do not always match what a scan shows. Exercise and staying active are among the most effective treatments. We help you understand your joints, ease pain and build the strength to keep walking, gardening, playing with grandchildren or getting back to sport.
You might notice
- Joint pain that is worse after activity or at the end of the day
- Morning stiffness that eases as you get moving
- Swelling or a feeling of grinding
- Reduced movement or difficulty with stairs and getting up
- Pain that comes and goes in flare-ups
Common causes
- Age-related joint changes
- Previous joint injuries
- Muscle weakness around the joint
- Family history
- Low activity levels or carrying extra weight

Your first appointment.
01
We listen
Your first appointment lasts an hour with a senior physiotherapist. We start by understanding your symptoms, your history, your work and what you want to get back to.
02
We find the cause
A thorough hands-on assessment of how you move, so we treat the cause and not just where it hurts.
03
You leave with a plan
You will understand what is wrong, how long it should take, and exactly what to do next, including treatment and exercises to start straight away.
Good questions.
Will exercise wear my joints out?
No. The right exercise helps arthritic joints and is recommended in national guidelines. We will help you find the right type and amount.
Is it too late to start?
It is never too late. People of all ages build strength and reduce pain with the right programme.
